Stan has been involved with tennis ever since his father first took
him to the La Canada tennis courts at the age of eight. He competed throughout his youth, eventually becoming the 47th member
of the newly formed La Canada Valley Tennis Club. He was inspired to instruct when, after years of competitive play, his oldest
daughter suddenly challenged him to teach her . Stan took this challenge seriously and began training with the USPTA
and PTR to become a professional tennis teacher.
| His first weekly students were his daughter and a
neighbor, but eventually over time, his schedule was filled and Stan was on the court every day of the week instructing students
from absolute beginners to tournament level players. Now, as a long standing Certified Professional (P-1) of the United States
Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), Stan continues to be a student of the
game himself by promoting, volunteering and attending all USPTA/PTR educational forums held monthly, quarterly and yearly.
Stan is now on staff at the newly formed Tennis Teachers Institute (TTI). He
has a great connection with the students and patience is a natural part of his style of teaching. Stan's private lessons are available in five formats: Skill Specific Developmental Strategic Practice techniques Aerobic Cardio Workout Lesson. |
| Another group option for Juniors ( 14 and under, who
are able to rally, serve and keep score) is the Junior Development Program: Friday evenings from 5:30-6:30pm. Students develop
by playing games, drilling strokes and practicing game tactics, with the goal of competing and improving. Openings are still
available on a continuing basis for drop-in. The School Team Prep group is Friday evenings
from 7 to 8 PM Stan has also organized the USTA Junior Team Tennis program
for Youth from Flint Canyon Tennis Club. The next openings will be for the spring season. Call direct to Stan at (213) 321-8699. |
